How did you celebrate Chinese New Year?

This festival is one of the most important in Chinese culture and spans over seven days. Through my work within the TfL BAME staff network group, my aim is to promote and celebrate all ethnicities covered by this broad banner within the company.
So many of us are connected to Chinese culture whether it is by travel, by the love of their food or by heritage.
I wanted to find out what the festival meant to my friends and colleagues and hopefully enlighten others too.
Working with my colleague and TFFLA member BeaThomas we came up with the idea of profiling people to find out exactly what Chinese New Year meant to them and how they would be celebrating it.

One of the profiles was the late Noel Austin and his family; the honorary retired member who had worked as a bus driver for over 30 years. It was lovely to profile him as it acknowledged the dual heritage of Chinese/Jamaican. TfL loved our profiles and they were advertised digitally at our Head Offices.

Inclusion & representation is something we at the TFFLA champion and it is always great to showcase one of our TFFLA members.

The retiree luncheon will be held once again this year in April so if you know of anyone who would like to attend please email for more details.
